Danish Championship for teams in Ringe, DK
On the 3rd september 2011, the Danish Championship for Teams was held in Ringe, DK. Each team have to consist of 3 – 4 triathletes, who each have to finish the distance of 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and finish off with 5 km run. During the race, the teams are not allowed to have more than 45 sec between the first and third athlete.
The team of Roedekro Triathlon Club will be Marianne Schøler, Lisbeth Bay Smidt, and Vinni Hansen, participating in agegroup. In the time of 01:21 minutes the team won the bronce medal within the age group.
This is the first time Roedekro Triahtlon Club are presented at the Danish Championship for Teams.
1/2 Ironman in Silkeborg, DK
On the 28th August the start of the 1/2 Ironman in Silkeborg went off, and about 200 triathlets started their long journey by swimming 2000 m in the lake of Silkeborg.
It wsa the first 1/2 ironman Vinni had ever participated in, and the young athlete was very nervous before the race.
“I feel that this is what I have been waiting for, and now is the time for me to fight”,
Vinni commented.
Alongside cheering and helping her through the race, her family and Rødekro Triathlon Club were support her all the way. Vinni was running through the finish line within the time of 6 hours and 50 minutes, surviving a taugh and cold climbing on the bike, and pain in her legs all through the half marathon.
Four athletes from Rødekro Triathlon participated, 2 women and 2 men. On the OL distance among others Vinni´s mother participated and won her agegroup.
Aabenraa Triathlon, DK
On the 21st August Vinni participated in the 27th Aabenraa Triathlon race at the beach in Aabenraa, DK. Together with 36 other athletes, she attended the olympic distance of 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, and 10 km. The route was close to the beach, so the audience had a great opportunity to see the athletes during their hard work.
“I am looking forward to the biking, as the parcour have a very steep climbing for 1200 m. I am not nervous for the race tomorrow, but I am hoping that the jellyfish are gone when we start”. Vinni commented before the start of the race.
Ironman Copenhagen Challenge 2011
The second weekend in August the Copenhagen Challenge was being held. Athletes from all over the world participating in this great attractive race in the heart of Copenhagen.
“My dad and Marianne Schøler Nielsen will be participating at the race, and I am looking forward to see if dad is going to get a good time. Last year he had to stop because of a bad crash on the bike. This time he is ready as he can be, as he says him self, and is going for under 12 hours. It is Marianne´s first Ironman race, and I will be there supporting her as much as I can”. Vinni commented before the race day.
Alex Møller Hansen and Marianne Schøler Nielsen are both from Rødekro IF Tri.
Assistant coach – Triathlon in Esbjerg, DK
On Sunday the 07/08/2011 Vinni Hansen was supporting her club athletes as assistant coach at the Triathlon in Esbjerg (300/20/5). The team consisted of 7 participants, including Roedekro´s youngest triathlete 13 year old Phillip Hansen.
“Most of the athletes participating from our club participating in this race, will be doing longer distances for the next weekend races, so this race we use to get into the feeling of competing and also testing the small details, before the bigger races is on the schedule”, Vinni commented before the race day.
The distance was the small of all triathlon distances, and are great for athletes who are testing their forms, but also new athletes who have never tried out the triathlon distance before. A great opportunity – and lot´s of fun!
